How many fish can live in my tank?

xD alright so my plans are in stone, I'll be buying some little Orandas, Ryukin and possibly a lionhead or two. Along with my current Ryukin who has been named Munchie xD

My question though is it alright for me to buy them now if they are about a inch long and put them in my 55 gal.? I'll be getting the new 75 gal in late september early october.
Yes, a 55g will work as a rearing tank although it can fit at least 3-4 adult fancy goldfish in the end. Don't crowd them too much. If I were you, raise about 4-5 goldfish only. It may seem very few but given the space and time, you will be able to grow your fish well enough without ending up stunting them.

It will only be till late october or early september when I have the money to buy the 75 gal tank, but I wanted to make sure that I could keep the little ones in the 55gal till then. I already have a 3-4 inch Ryukin, so I'll be getting a baby Oranda, fantail, lionhead if I can find one and then maybe another Oranda.

Would that work out ok until I get my 75?

It will work just fine. If I were you, keep the tank barebottom so maintenance will be much easier. Maximize your filtration system and water changes. I feed my goldfish multiple small meals a day which is safer than few big meals that they always seem bloated which could cause health issues later on.

Thank you Lupin, you've been a big help :)

So this is what I've decided on:
1x Ryukin (which I already own)
1x Oranda
2x Fantail
1x Ranchu or Lionhead (might change this to another Ryukin or Oranda as the lfs in my area run out of these very quickly)

now if I get these as babies (about a inch or two) is it already to keep them in my 55 gal till october? I do water changes once a week and since my last episode with my Ryukin I've been very careful with feeding small amounts a few times a day, ^^ even picked up some of the Mazuri feed (since I can't find the Hikari lionhead)

xD Thanks, I'm really unnerved about it all, its the first time that I've really wanted a community and want to make sure.

Present!! My Ryukin Munchie :) (sorry about the large size)

^^; So I have a question...again.

I have fallen head over heels for this fish...

My only problem is...I'm pretty sure its a comet and with my 75 gal I don't think I would have enough room even if all I had was one in there, plus I already have my Ryukin (compatible?). Do all comets start out with a sort of stiff tail and then it gets long like that?

Yes, that's a comet. Yes, it will get quite large for a 75G. I have a couple of comets in my 75G, and their growth potential is similar to common single-tails. The only difference is that their body is shorter, and their long flowing tail makes up the difference.

I do have Ryukins in my tank as well, and they compete favorably with the comets (and common, and shubunkin). As fancies go, they seem feisty enough to cope. I think the funniest thing to watch is when my largest ryukin gets over-ambitious while bottom-feeding. His huge egg-shaped belly sends him leaning past center, and if he keeps pushing he'll start to roll over onto his head upside-down. This doesn't seem to bother him, and he'll keep feeding until he's right on his back and can't reach the food any more. Then he'll swim inverted until he rolls upright again.

Comets tend to have a fairly distinctive shape even as juveniles, but definitely grow their tail as they age. Both of mine ended up with tail roughly as tall as their body is long. This is a pic of one of them as a youngin'.

Josh is right. Ryukins are much more able to compete with singletails especially fantails but they're one of the few that can. Most others won't have much opportunity to get their fair share of foods.
