Is the fish section in Wal-mart self service? I think someone told me it was since no one who works there knows anything about fish. Asking this because, Surprisingly, the guppies at my local Wal-mart have some fry. So.. :naughty:. Any one know if it is self service?

yeah, write your own price on one bag full of fish to save them

The last time I was in the WM in my hometown there was usually a clerk stationed in the pet section from 10 a.m. until about 9 p.m. Amazingly enough she was quite knowledgeable...of course, I had probably taught her about 70% of what she knew :)

It is a sideline for them, generating impulse buys.

I did manage to save one beautiful veiltail betta from wal-mart. Wal-mart feeds their Bettas krill. I don't know how the bettas manage to eat those. Half the cichlids there have fungus. Sad. I'll go save some guppies some time.

it's good that you found a nice betta, but for every fish you buy they just order one more. you did save that one, but by shopping for fish there you are just encouraging them to keep selling live fish. the only true fish "rescue" from walmart is when a store decides to stop keeping fish and the only choice is you buy them or they get flushed.
