I am looking for a decent smaller sized canister filter for my 30 gal FW community tank. I am hoping to stay as inexpensive as possible but still have a decent product. I have been checking out the Eheim Filter 2213 on BigAls for $80 but was hoping to get something cheaper. Any suggestions?

C-160, there are a few deals floating around ebay, I got mine for $65 shipped.

A 2213 is little on the small side for a 30g, honestly. 160 GPH is the smallest filter I would put on it really.

Kensfish has the C-160 for $79 plus shipping http://www.kensfish.com/marinelandcanisterfilters.html.

Another good option if you want to go literally small is the XP1, kinda puny compared to the C-series but should work as well

H.O.T. Magnum 250 would be nice though, just don't look for alot of media space.

XP1 is plenty for a 30. I have 2 on my 29s and they are awesome on there. My C series on my 45 is a good filter but I can't get the shutoffs to work after my second cleaning. That makes it a PITA to clean.

how bout this
