Got some Gold Rams, and German Blue Rams!!!

you've had them for a day, that's nowhere near long enough to tell their sex based on behavior. In general, males are larger than females.

thanks
i forgot to mention that one of the rams is larger than the other

Now the larger ram is chasing the smaller ram around the tank.
I think it is a male.

I think they are both males, they are staying far away and staying away from each other, and sometimes chase each other.
Help???

Does anyone know how to sex Gold Rams??????????:help:

You can't tell right now, separate them

How do I separate them???
These are the tanks I having running right now.......
72G(waiting for plants to plant it, and waiting for other filter to arrive)It is still working with fish in it but need to plant it

20G has a pair of german blue rams(i know they are male and female)

10G has a pair of gold rams and shrimp

How can I not tell right now???
Does that mean that the male could chase the female and be aggressive towards her if it is a female???

I might just take it back to the LFS and get a new one that is female for sure, I think it was just a mistake, as the people in my LFS know how to sex these fish, it took them like 15 minutes to find this pair
i think they accidentally netted the wrong fish

I wouldn't bother separating them unless you see them actually attacking one another. Males do look different than females but it is hard to explain, you'd just have to see lots of them. The males are generally larger, have a taller swooping dorsal fin, and the females are typically diminutive in comparison and don't have the swoop in the dorsal fin. That being said though, there are some that possess both male and female physical traits so going by dorsal fins and whatnot can still fail.

K

I'll try......

They always hide when I get close to them. I can watch them from my bed which is like 8ft away, but as soon as I get up and am 3ft away from the tank, they somehow sense my presence and hide in the java moss. They look so cool, and I love their colors. They are more active than when I got them.
I think they feel the vibrations or somehow see me:)

ill take pics in 5min
