Central American Cichlid Tank Ideas....

OK....I have a 110 gallon tank (60w X 18d X 24h) That I want to use as a Central American Cichlid breeding tank.....I would like to do a set up with 2-3 pairs of different species.....I want colorful, controllable aggression, maybe something unique....you get the idea...let the suggestions roll! The person with the winning idea gets a fish in my new tank named after him or her! (Contest not valid in New Hampshire or Vatican City, winner must be 3 or older, Employees of Petco or their families are not allowed to enter)

Salvini, firemouth, and angels.

I wouldn't do Salvini and FM's - either Salvini and Convicts, of FM's and something like HRP's.

Salvini's are incredibly aggressive when breeding, and only something as stubburn as Convicts will put up with it.

You could possibly squeeze in some nics with the FM tank...

Yea, I thought about Salvinis too, but i think I may set up a species tank for them down the road....I have always liked firemouths, and the nics just might work with them....ok, folks, great start...so far the possible winning fish name in the hopper is "Pugrally".....maybe think more unusual..I have access to to a lot of "stuff".....keep 'em rollin'....



P.S. Pugwash......I had three hours of sleep last night and I'm acronym challenged.....que es "HRP".....I know you will tell me and I will feel stupid, but my brain just hurts too much to think.....

i keep trios of CA's in my 300. in a 110 you could successfully maintain trios of following:

Archocentrus panamense

Archocentrus sajika

Thorichthys pasiones

Thorichthys sp. 'mextico blue'

Cryptoheros cutteri (sp. spilurus)

Good job folks.....the excitment meter is rising! I actually have a nice A. Sajica male in a odd ball tank and a good source for Thorichthys and HRP's (see, I CAN be tought acronyms). WE ARE ROLLING NOW!

Thanks for the input...I have shifted my plans a bit, and will be using a 55 gallon instead....I think I'll go with 2 species - A. Sajica and T. Pasiones - or something similar (relatively small and peaceful) depending on availability in my area. I'll name one fish Padlpug and another Rally....
