This may seem like a stupid question but it really isn't, I promise. In a 15 gallon tank I have the most docile blue crayfish ever. To date he has not killed a single fish. His body is 4.5 inches (w/o claws). Tankmates include a keyhole cichlid (2 inches) 6 white clouds and 4 otos. Also living in the tank are about 1,000 snails. Im not sure what kind but they get about an inch long and have a very pretty cone-like shell (not a ball shaped shell at all, just a long skinny cone). The big ones don't bother me but the little ones cover everything, including my crayfish.

I want to add a batch of .75-1 inch yoyo loach fry (I consider them fry at least). to the tank to control the snails (control but not exterminate). Once they get bigger they will join my other yoyos in other tanks. My main concern is that once they start to get bigger they might somehow harm the crayfish (such as after molting).

Sorry for the long post; any ideas/ comments appriciated

Sorry ryan, can't help with personal experience. I just hate to see a post go unanswered. I don't think the loaches would bother the crayfish while small, they may not bother it when bigger. If you're home often enough, you could try it and move the loaches out if they start picking at the crayfish or move the crayfish while he molts.

Good luck.
