Whippet racing photos

This is your dog? She's a beaut! I've heard that ex racing dogs make terrific companions and that more people should adopt them from being destroyed.

BTW, is that you with Ashley?

Hey Its my girlfriend with ashley. These are whippets not greyhounds, whippets are not raced for money only fun. Greyhounds are the poor ones, live all their lives in kennels, raced beaten, and thrown out like trash. Ashley is not that fast but she has a lot of fun running

We have a neighbor that has a greyhound rescue. Oh my God...those people should be shut down. The horrible things that were done to this poor dog becasue she wouldn't chase a rabbit. She is so gentle. There are laws against dog fighting, but they allow racing to continue.

PETA should go after them. Would serve them right.

I am so glad to hear that the whippets are treated so much better.

Greyhounds should have some stipulation that they are only able to race if a retirement home has been secured with legal papers....or something.

Wow, that happens in IL? I had to second glance and check -- I thought you were in FL!

Lots of abuse goes on down here. There's no 'strong' ASPCA to mention. FL in my opinion is one of the worst states for giving 'pit bulls' a bad rap/name... We don't need the PETA crew - but some more "investigating" is way overdue for bad dog owners..

It wasn't an Illinois track. She got a call from someone out of state. She was apparently known to the rescue organization, and they had a particularly challenging one. She works from home so was able to take it. She babysits someone's dog once a week so her baby has a friend to play with.

I know this is an old post but I just adopted a retired racer. He is such a sweety! I also like whippets too but I like bigger dogs better! I am sadden by how greyhounds get treated. It's just not right. Thousands STILL die each year because not ebough people adopt them:(:( It's just sad.
