Depends on what the diet of the fish in its natural range would be.
For example some herbivores require a higher amount of protein that is plant derived, whereas Mbuna from lake malawi and Tropheus cichlids from Lake Tanganyika both require low protein vegetable diets. The high amounts of protein can lead to a condition called Bloat.

What type of fish do you want to feed?

The Northfin, NLS and Omega spec well based on their first 3 ingredients, but this doesn't mean all of them aren't good products. IMO, the key is to offer a variety.

I completely agree with the above. Mixing the foods and providing fresh veggies and plant matter is the best diet.

I'm a big fan of Northfin foods. Quality ingredients, and they offer foods in a variety of sizes which allows me to get food to tiny mouthed fish. I'm also a fan of the Xtreme line for omnivores, and supplement with fresh foods, live foods and Repashy.

I have personally used the Omega brand as well as dainichi algae pellets. Omega is actually pretty cheap compared to some fish food brands and I have had good experiences with it. Dainichi I picked up when it was new years ago and It was also very good but I havent got it since.

Right now I have a cheap one "API Tropical greens" and all my fish love it, even my Daffodil cichlids and they are more on the carnivorous side of Omnivores.
