Which aquascape looks best?

I like #1 as there are nice areas to place tall plants behind the rocks Anubias nana onto the rocks and low grassy plants as a carpet in front.

Don't forget to add a background to the tank - either a picture or a painting job from the outside. One should not be able to see all the hardware behind the tank.
Happy decorating.

plan to do the background by getting some black velvet and cutting it to fit the back.

that'll make a nice background! i have black fabric on both my 55's (it's a cotton/jersey knit sort) and i love it.

it's not a rimless tank, eh? if it's just a plain ol' tank with a rim then the sticky back velcro strips (usually sold in lengths cut to order at a farbric store) will work perfectly. that's what i have holding my fabric backgrounds on my tanks. just be sure to put the hook portion of the velcro on the tank and the loop portion on the velvet. that way if you need to wash the velvet some day the velcro won't go sticking and snagging to the velvet.

That sounds a lot better than taping it up, lol. I have black velvet on my 20long, it's taped. I'll have to get the velcro.
