I don't have anything cool in any of my tanks.. Sand fake plants, a couple of real ones, clay pots, and some chunks of slate I got at my local stone shop. Where can I find some big nice pieces of driftwood? It seems like everybody who posts a picture on a lot of these fish forums has awesome decor in their big cichlid tanks. Also wondering where to get black sand.. If its real expensive I will just go with regular pool filter sand. I want to put a nice layer of it in my 100gallon.

I got a HUGE piece of driftwood from my LFS that was in one of their display tanks...it is sunbleaching right now because it was overtaken with blackbeard algae.

I have seen black sand from some of my LFS. If your LFS doesn't have black sand, you should be able to find it on-line somewhere.

most Petmsarts have bags of black Tahtian moon sand, but its like $25 per bag.

you'll have to look around for the right piece of driftwood. literally, each piece is different and the one that suits your tank may not show up for a while.

BTW, prime kills BBA on contact

I'm trying to dig up some info on the 3M colorquartz sand that everybody uses in their tanks but I've been reading that its really hard to find a retailer. Its $18 per 50lb's so two bags would be awesome in my 100gallon.

SWEET...thanks jm1212. I am going out to get some Prime tomorrow...the 2 demons in my avatar chewed my last bottle up. I wish I would have known that before it overtook my tank while I was away.

I know about the tahitian moon sand, its just so **** expensive. It would work in my 10gallons but not my 100gallon lol.

I really have no preference in driftwood. I just want a huge piece and was wondering if there was anywhere else people bought it other than LFS's.

i bought one bag of moon sand thinking it will fill 2 10 gals.... i used it on 2 10 and a 20 gal. its not that bad but its more then some of the other things.

hmmm. According to the last conversion I found on this website I'm going to want 72lb's per inch of sand I want (to fill my 100gallon.) http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/calculator.php

If I bought the tahitian moonsand from your previous link it would cost me $56 before shipping/tax just for 1" of cover in my tank (70"x18".)

thanks for the help so far
