ok here is the deal i am selling all my bigger tanks. i am also taking the money from that and building one bad *ss nano .i figure its better to have one nice tank instead of allot of mediocre tanks. my question is what is the best all in one system out there under 35 gallons i need links if u got them. and pros and cons if you own a nano tank . thanks in advanced

The best nanos are the DIY ones. You really aren't going to find a bad *ss standard, retail nano. My suggestion is to start from the base up. What I would personally do:

--Custom rimless tank (cubesque, like the new Solanas, sans the back filter unit).

--External overflow with simple horizontal "slit" in back of tank + a comparment to house some controllable Tunze nanostreams. That way, nothing protrudes.

--Nice skimmer, like one of the smaller Deltec models.

--Sump/refugium, preferably separate, if possible under custom stand. Stand would house all the aforementioned, including all controllers, etc.

--prepared valves for easy or even automated water changes, which entails a mixing tank that can pump directly to the tank and a drain valve at the same rate. (I'd like this for my 75 ;))

--Auto top-off, integrated with RO/DI unit

--Computer controlled peristaltic doser for 2(3)- part additives, since using a calcium reactor in a small setup isn't as feasible.

--Metal halide lighting, pendant-style with either a 150w HQI or something like the 175w 15K Iwasaki mogul-based bulb. T5 supplementation if feasible.

So, yeah. Something along those lines :D

If you'd like somethign a bit more integrated, www.nanocustoms.com for more stuff (nice).

edit: Also try www.nanotuners.com They also have some high-end stuff.

I agree that building a nano would get you exactly what you want... it's not for everyone.

While I was looking for a tank, I only seriously considered two tanks. The Red Sea Max and the Aquapod sytem

If I had the money, I'd pick up the Red Sea. Otherwise, the Aquapod 24g with metal halides for serious coral work or regular lights for lower cost.

I don't think that I've talked to anyone with these two tank that isn't happy with them. The LFS is selling the Red Sea tanks as fast as they get them. They have a really nice display setup too. A variety of small fish, corals, etc.
