I'm concerned about one of my two knight gobies. It has what looks like a sunburn. There is pink coloring at the base of all its fins and the whole body seems to have a subtle pink undertone. It hasn't had its dorsal fin erect for almost two weeks. At first I thought it was the knight gobys breeding colors (when my male BBG is in the mood his black bands fade and he has a very pink undertone) but now I am not so sure. Could blood be pooling underneath? It's still eating but it's not as active as it once was. It's recently taken to hovering about three inches below the water's surface. I've had it for a year and it was only about 2 inches when I got it, so I don't think age is the issue. The other knight goby seems fine as do the other fish in the tank.

does it look like a pealing sun burn or is i just pink

It looks closer to peeling. There is one spot on its face that looks like it is actually peeling, it's about the size of a pencil lead. But the rest of the skin on the body is intact. Perhaps a fungus? I think I may start treating with Melafix and add a bubble wand for extra aeration. I've had very few problems with my fish, so I'm pretty clueless when it comes to treatment.

does it look like this

if it does this was when my convict was in very bad shape i used melafix and he got better very fast

Wow! No, the knights goby's scales and fins don't look like that. I'm glad your convict got better fast, it looks like a very unpleasant condition to have. I will try to get a picture and post it in the morning.

You mean SG of 1.003? Possibly a heater burn? Is the heater laying horizontal or vertical?

Sorry, the SG is 1.003. At the moment the heater is horozontal. It has been vertical in the past though. Would a heater burn do that to the whole body?

Here are some pictures of the uncomfortable fellow.
It looks like there may be a fungus starting at the base of the dorsal fin.

It does look like a bacterial infection. My guess would also be, that it is contagious.
Keep a close eye on all the fish. You may want to try Maracyn and maracyn-Two used together for treatment.
Unfortunately, I am also have the same thing in my 65 gal right now. I believe it to be a columnaris outbreak.
