Tired of the S,A,E,'s they are to nippy, my powder blue gouromis loves it;s gone , an i do to, any suggestions?

Whats your tank size? I'd recommend the bristlenose pleco or any kind of dwarf pleco. I've owned one for 4 years, its grown to about 4 inches so I'd say minimum 30 gallon, and you should feed them algae wafers.

depends what size your tank is. good algae eaters range from inverts like snails and shrimps to real grazers like otos, BN plecos and the like.

best algae consumer of all thought is good old elbow grease, depending on what type of algae your removing. sometimes keeping the water clean, light at normal levels, live plants will keep algae at bay.

Agree with above posts.
My opinion;
For tanks under 20g snails and shrimp are best.
Between 20g and 30g a small school of Ottos work well.
Over 30g Bristlenoses, they do a great job keeping the larger tanks clean.

Are you sure they're SAEs? Mine don't nip anybody else in my tank. They seem too busy pecking away at the plants and rocks to bother the other inmates. I had been sold false SAEs and they were so bad especially with each other that I had to separate them.

If you don't want the algae for food for a specific fish, work on the cause of the algae, water/nutrients/food/light, and it will go away.

otos are great for large tanks (55+), they dont do so well in smaller tanks since they like to be in groups and eats a TON of algae, there great with brown algae but i dont know about other algaes. A school of 5-6 is good in a 55 gallon, 1 oto per 10 gallon after that is good as well.

My 55gal , i have 2 clowns loaches in there now an 1 SAE, but as the SAE gets to 4" they all seem to get nippy an got to go. I do have 3 live plants in there now, an don't have a algae problem, just trying to keep it that way. As for the 20 gal hex, i got growth on the larger rocks, an all else is kept clean. Had an SAE in there but got real nippy at my powder blue gouromis, he'd hide all the time , but is very happy now it's gone, out an about all the time. I check out these sugguestions, THX All
