Within the next couple of weeks I will be returning my Bolivian ram to the lfs, because it has been bullying my angel, and being chased by my redtail shark. Once, he's gone, is my redtail going to turn on the angel? redtail is about 3", angel is 2.5 or so. Should I return the redtail as well? there are other bottom dwellers in the tank too - a weatherfish (4") and marbled syno (4").

Thanks,
momar

What stock have you got?
I found with my rainbow shark (more or less the same) when it was living with the cherries and 2 dwarf gouramis it killed 1 of the gouramis and terrorised the other one until i put in 5 various rainbowfish. The the aggresion died down alot and them i added and angel which is now in my 18G but when it was in my 30G and from now on the shark is extreamly peaceful.
so the morale is
understocked tank=aggression
well stocked tank=little to no aggression

I have a rainbow shark and he chases my bolivians once in awhile - no harm done. I also have 4 angels and he doesn't touch them. I don't think you will have a problem with the shark and angel because they inhabit different areas of the tank, (top - angel, bottom - shark). Always keep a close eye on them though! You could also get more rams, they will divert their aggression on each other and be a dither for your redtail. This of course depends on the size of your tank. Sharks like lots of rocks, caves, etc. to calls his own.

Tank is a Rekord 96 (30x12x15", 25g, heavily planted). Other stock: weatherfish (4"), marbled syno (4"), angel (2.5"), ram (2"), 15 harlequins, starcrown ancistrus (2"), 5 otos. Well stocked then...there are various caves etc.

RTBS get aggressive toward other fish no matter where they "dwell". angels do not just stay around the top of the tank. all of mine are always out an about all over the tank investigating and sometimes defending terretories.

your RTBS will get aggressive with your syno.

with a 25G. I'm sure your RTBS will be quite aggressive and even more so as he gets bigger. Usually they are more aggressive with same shape (torpedo) fish.

My angels stay mostly mid to top level, occasionally they venture to the bottom but not often. My rainbow never bothers the angels.

My angel does tend to swim at all levels. maybe I will take back the redtail.
