What's the part called that you put connect the air line to where the air comes out?

And it broke in my Rena 100. Is this repairable?

If it's called a diaphragm (I can't figure it out by Googling), then I have my answer.

How did it break, do you know? Did it fall or something?

Usually the only parts that are sold for air pump repair are diaphragms. They look like this:

I'm not exactly sure, I'd say it's called an outlet. Looking at the website, it looks like the only parts for a Rena 100 air pump that Rena sells are a tune up kit and an air filter pad...none of these will help you, unfortunately.

If you bought it new, and kept the manual (I never do...have regretted this a few times!) then there may be some warranty info on there. It's probably out of warranty, but it doesn't hurt to call and see if there's anything they can do for you.

Edit: Warranty on this pump is only 1 year, you've probably had it considerably longer.

I just bought this pump on clearance at my LFS for $10:

Of course, it's still cheaper on Amazon ;) I like it so far, it's quiet and I like the fact that it has a long lasting diaphragm. (If a pump says it has a flexible diaphragm, that's a plus in my book, because what makes them wear out is the constant vibration on the hard rubber, traditional style diaphragm.)

The Tetra Whisper pumps (dome style) are the quietest pumps ever, I really like that about them, but if you use them constantly (to power an UG filter, in my case) the diaphragms wear out, and the repair kit ($12) is almost as much as a new pump ($20).

I guess it's not the diaphragm then. I've only had this pump for a couple of years and I haven't been abusing it by exposing it to extreme temps or storing it weird. I also haven't been taking the air line off and on so it shouldn't have broken. It broke clean off at the base in the air line. It's hard to glue on because of the two small air holes. Nonetheless, I did try with something called Plastic Welding or something with a toothpick and it broke yet again when I accidentally nudged it. This was even after I attached an air line to it with a sizable length, ending in a check valve so I won't be touching the outlet when I connect a longer length of air line to it.

Sorry to hear. Maybe disassemble it and include it in the parts box you are thinking of selling? If it's only 2 years old I'm sure the innards are still in good shape.

The outlet broke off? That's part of the valve body that the diaphragm attaches to. May be repairable with super glue or model glue, depending on what type of plastic it's made of.

plastic epoxy would be best , the two part stuff , but i would bet its cheaper to buy a new pump.

super glue might work for awhile

I already have two part epoxy and was planning on trying it next. I wanted to try the plastic welding stuff first because I figured that welding would be better than glue! Turns out it didn't even dissolve any of the plastic so that it could be chemically welded.

It sounds like you've tried and aren't going to be able to fix it. You could try the outlet from a cheaper/broken pump and perhaps that will resurrect the good one.
