I was just wondering what some good fish are for a 10 gallon tank. I already have 2 mollies, 1 platy, 2 neon tetras, and 1 sword tail in another tank. I want some different ones for my other tank but not sure what I can put in there. I was going to get tiger barbs but I am rethinking it.

hmmm ten gallon tank?

I have whitecould minnows, in mine they are cute. I have a betta in a 5 gallon tank. I am going to put some ottos in the ten I think to go with the white clouds.

Thanks! I just got this tank and I am dreaming of a bigger tank and bigger fish already. :p Maybe Santa will be good to me this year. Anyways those white clouds are cute, those would be nice.

Dwarf Freshwater puffers are a good choice for a 10 gallon. Like 6-8 and maybe a couple cories. The puffers are great little fish that are fun to watch.

If you like barbs try the smaller kinds. Cherry barbs are great as are gold barbs. Tiger get a bit big for a ten gallon when you add in 5-6 of them. They need the space to swim.

I would say that 6-8 dwarf puffer in a 10 gallon tank would be crazy and the cories would suffer for it. The live food alone to keep that many of them would be hard to maintain and the waste they create would mean constant cleaning. 2-3 dwarf puffer would be a better idea.

White clouds are technically coldwater fish and thrive much better in water temps down near the high 60's or low 70's. They can survive higher temps easily but you need to make sure to keep the water very clean and well oxygenated.

I agree that 6-8 puffers would be too many for a 10 gallon.

I'd put no more that 4.

I've also read several times that they need to be in a species only tank.

I think 1 blue ram and 3-4 of the smaller varieties of cory's would be good.

But keep in mind the cory's would always stay on the bottom, so the tank might look a little empty with only 1 Blue ram in there with them.

Maybe a small school of a type of tetra with 3 cory's?

You need to have at least 5 neon tetras in a tank. They are much happier with higher numbers. How about put the neons in the new tank, add at least 3 more and the 3 cories? And then add some tank mates for the fish in your other tank?

Most, but not all, fish would prefer to not be the only one of their kind in a tank.

Crazy or not it's worked for me for the past few months. I currently have 18 DFP's. 6 (1 male & 5 females) of which are in a 10 gallon tank with 2 panda cories. The others are in a 30 and a 15 gallon tank also both with cories. I feed them blackworms twice per day and nothing gets left over. At about 1-2 worms per fish at each feeding it's been extremely easy to "maintain" them. As for cleaning I do a 25% water change on each tank every 2 days. Also extrememly simple and as for any tank, needed. For me personally, things have been fine.
