I brought home 4 clown loaches 5 days ago..
I have not seen them eat anything.. I left some Cucumber in the tank for 2 days.... but no bites...

Plus the clown loaches are so afraid of me that when ever I get close to the tank they run and hide..
I can never see them up close :(

But I am more concerned abut food for them right now...

I do not know anything about CL's but if you got them, you should have researched what they ate b4 buying them....not trying to be rude...I have read that they get big....Is 5 days w/o food too long for them?

i did do my research..
i use them have them before.. the old ones use to love Cucumber ...
these ones are not taking to it...
i am goin to try Zucchini next...
i was just fishing for some ideas...

Your CL's may be a bit shy and skittish for a week or so, sometimes longer while they adjust to their new surroundings..sometimes they may not eat for a few days until they're settled in. As for what to feed them, they aren't very picky eaters...I have 5 and they eat flakes, shrimp pellets, frozen bloodworms, brineshrimp, peas and zucchini. They especially love the frozen foods! :D Another thing, you never want to leave any veggies in the tank for more than a couple of hours....it can create problems with your water conditions. I leave the veggies in for no longer than 3 hours.
Give your CL's some time to get used to you coming to the tank to look at them. Mine did the same thing and now they're not a bit shy. They swim all over the tank all day chasing each other etc and know when it's time for supper....they'll swim up and down the front of the tank till I throw the food in.

I feed my clowns shrimp pellets, freeze dried tubifex worms (they love that stuff), and tetramin flake food.

When I first got my clowns, I bought four and they were always hiding (1 jumped out of a very small hole in the hood :( ). Later I got 4 more and they didn't hide. So with a large enough group, they'll feel secure enough to not hide, and only slightly be startled when you approach the tank.

i have some frozen Bshrimp... i will feed them tonight..
anymore tips will be greatly appreciated :bowing:

thax again.. 4 not Judging me too quick..

I have a troop of 7 (my fav. number :p ). They are all about 1 1/2" and are awaiting their 180 to finish cycling.

You don't have to worry about tank size for now (they are very slow growers) but that doesn't mean you shouldn't get the largest tank possible as soon as possible. You'll want something around 90g's+ for a good size school.

Oh also, when you get clowns around the same size, the largest ones will wrestle amongst themselves to determine who will be the dominant loach of the pack. Sometimes it looks like they're playing too rough, but they'll be alright. It's actually very interesting to watch, they hunch up their backs, grey out the black stripes and circle/headbutt each other.

That's all I can think of right now, if you have anymore questions in the future, you know where to post. ;)

betty

I have had my three cl for nearly 3 years and they love to eat anything. They are a bit skittish when I can near the tank but if you stay still, they will come out of hiding. Fun to watch. They are about 3 to 3.5 inches. betty
