For the first time ever, a lfs has some Rummynose Tetras in stock,
and I'm seriously tempted to add 6 of them to my 55g (see my sig.)

However, AqAdvisor warns that Tiger Barbs are too aggressive
for these Tetras.

Does anyone here have any direct experience with this?

IME - yes, the tiger barbs are very aggressive to newcomers, especially if there are only 6 of them. If you have a school of 50, it would be safe - as they say 'safety by the numbers'. :)

I would'nt chance it.

i have green barbs and red tail barbs 3 of each in my tank with 10 black neon tetras. i have had no problems. i also had 10 blue neon tetras(kinda smaller). the barbs dindnt mess with them at all how ever the brown knife made 9 snacks out of them lol.

Almost definitely not, but I am curious about the person keeping tiger barbs with 'blue neon tetras?' Are these simulans tetras?

I'd be surprised by that combo as well. (but not the knifefish eating them) :-(
