For me, it bothers me only a little. I don't see why they had to change the image of the woman on their packaging who has in some ways, become a icon for their consumers. It is also a bit of a concern to me that the image that they are setting forth for their future and past consumers is what society could and might idealize as what is considered attractive and beautiful.
If you look at the changes made to the raisin-girl, you will see that the newer model has larger breasts, a refined nose, significant weight loss, a tan, make up (blush - foundation), and slightly arched eye brows. The new raisin girl looks like she should be working at a boutique or some department store. I mean, really? This model that has been chosen to be used as their front cover, can anyone actual realistically imagine someone like her picking and drying grapes?
I don't know. Maybe I'm old-fashioned. Maybe I'm traditional. And maybe I'm slightly feminist. But I preferred the homely and earthly (and natural) look of the original raisin girl. This does not mean that I will discontinue purchasing Sun-Maid products. But the change of the model does not mean I will go out and buy extra raisins just because the new raisin girl has a nicer tan and possibly a bigger chest than me.
