Hi guys!

I just picked up some mini Terra-cotta pots to try re-scaping one of my 10 gallon tanks with.. and was wondering how other people who used these decorated their tanks..

Anyone have pics of their tanks with Terra cotta pots in them??

Thanks!! :)

I dont have a GOOD picture per se, but I have a picture of my 20g when I first started aquascaping it for my clawed frogs. It was nowhere near done, but I had to put the plants in terra-cotta pots because my biggest frog would dig up anything I didnt weight VERY well under a lot of substrate, or super glue to the wood. So, here is what my crappy little tank looked like when I first started it. I don't have any more recent photos as I am in the middle of rebuilding it.

Those tanks look great -- I love them! Here's some of ours:

My idea is slightly different. Since we have so many broken flowerpots around our yard, I've taken some of the pieces and drilled a pair of holes in each piece. Then I use a plastic-covered twist tie to secure Java fern to it.

It's very cool. You can move the plant around the tank like a potted plant in your living room. :) And the flower pot color goes very well with most substrates - especially flourite.

I guess those pots I got for my tank oughta go into it sometime, huh?

Handy tips: Only use plain terra cotta, no painted/glazed finishes which might leach something into the water. New pots are best — but you can go with used ones that you know haven't been exposed to any pesticides, etc. And, to keep fish from getting stuck (which they will do!), either seal the hole in the bottom with silicone or remove the bottom completely. The easiest way to do that is to soak the pot in water for a couple of hours, turn it upside down and hit the bottom with a hammer or whatever. Should pop right out. Sand down any rough spots to protect delicate finnage, and voilá, fish pots!

Some people like to smear them with a little silicone and cover them in sand or gravel to make them more natural looking. :)

Those are all amazing, thanks guys! Definately gave me some good ideas.. I bought 5 little pots and so far have hammered the bottoms of them out, soaked them for a few days, and sanded down all the edges..

Soon for aquascaping!

:)

Awesome setups everyone!
I used my clay pot as well...a plant pot lol. It was originally a napkin ring so the bottom is gone and the roots are able to grow out of the bottom
