Tankmates for cherry barbs and tiger barbs?

From all that i've read a ram should work out well with the tiger barbs. I have found Ram's to be pretty good community fish. But I have never tried that before. They are typically more expensive than neons if money is an issue.

oh money is not an issue. I couldn't not justify paying 2.99 each and was planning to get 6 rams.

I was thinking of getting a bolivian rams or gbr. Bolivian is a lil more hardy.

I have tiger barbs with german blue rams and it is not an issue. However, I think you would be pushing your stocking a little. And I stock heavily! I think 5 tiger barbs, 7 cherry barbs and 6 Rams is a little much in a 29 gallon. maybe 2-3 rams would be better. They are 3 plus inches and full bodied when full grown. Bolivians get even bigger. You won't have enough room in a 29 for them to stake out their own territory. I have 6 in a 55 waiting for some pairing action. They have just started to mature and are becoming quite nasty to each other at times.

Just a thought and my opinion.

Oh yeah...I had a male betta in with my barbs for a little while and the betta took no crap from the barbs!! The dwarf gourami however, I had to move as he was hounded relentlessly!!

I'm sure your tiger barbs would like a few more for company... I'm worried about them nipping the rams fins. If you take the chance, I'd go with a pair for centerpiece fish.

I think the Rams can take care of themselves. I wouldn't worry about too much fin nipping from the barbs.

Yeah my barbs don't even try to mess with the rams!! LOL

Oh, good...I'm glad you didn't want 6 rams in there!! I think 2 would look great!

i stop by my local petshop and broke down and got 5 white clouds and 5 BIG RED serpae tetras.
They had some blue electric rams, but he was selling it for 18.99 each!!!
I might just get some gbr rams from someone on here.

ill get a picture once i find my camera's charger
