stocking options for 3 gallon tank with betta

cherry shrimp, you don't really have enough room for any schooling fish to be very comfortable, maybe some celestial pearl danios or similar mirco fish but those are expensive and harder to find.

x2 - no other fish, maybe some shrimp if the betta doesn't eat them.

Maybe 2 or 3 small shrimp, or some small snails, but that's the absolute most you could have with him...

I have an Eclipse 3 Gallon w/ a betta, 2 rummy nosed tetras, an oto, an ADF and 2 Mystery snails. Everyone is pretty happy. Here is a picture.

That tank doesn't look very clean. Not to meantion rummynoses should be kept in schools, and in tanks of at least 15-20g. Again, I say you shouldn't be telling others to innapropriately stock a tank.

The tank is fine the picture is the issue. I have read numerous posts on this site saying it is ok to have tetras with bettas. While it may be ideal for tetras to be in schools I am sure numerous people keep them in smaller groups and the tetras are fine. I will keep you posted on mine but so far they show no sign of stress and they have no issues with the betta.

California that is an awlful lot of fish in a 3g eclipse IMO. Tetras are know to be fin nippers not the best choice to have with your betta. You should rethink your population how often do you do wc's and gravel vac? Seems to me that you are overstocked I have the same tank and my betta is by himself I chose not to add anything else might be a good idea to move out the tetras and oto and keep the snails what is an ADF anyway? If you can get another tank you could make a school of tetras add the oto and if the ADF is compatible add that too. With that population you need to do wc's weekly. I also have another betta in a 5g as well by himself. Sovereign if you want to add anything else maybe a snail or two not sure about the shrimp. You can look up online what other fish are compatible with a betta but remember an inch per gallon. Figure your betta is a pretty big fish by himself. My betta pictured in my avatar is in a 5g and he is a big boy. Also you must do good wc's and gravel vacs often. I usually do wc's every 2 weeks with a filter change every month but my bettas are the sole fish for both my 3g and 5g and they are thriving :). Make sure you have a heater and thermometer bettas like warm water. The eclipse 3g is an excellent tank I love it it has a biowheel, hood light and filter. Also you must make sure to cycle the tank wouldn't be a good idea to do that with a betta if you choose to do a fishy cycle a couple of white clouds or danios are a good choice they are very hardy don't cycle the tank with the betta if you do a fishless cycle other members can coach you through the process. Just make sure the tank is cycled before you add the betta and make sure you have your water liquid testing drops for ph, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Good luck.
