Simple Insect Trap Ideas - Please Guide me

You can take a large jar and place a funnel over the top with the wide part facing up. Place it directly under a light outside. In the evening when bugs are flying around the light some will get knocked down into the funnel and fall into the jar.

There's no point buying that over-priced product. You can easily just make a much cheaper, similar one by following these directions I made. Good luck.

Hi Sir,

Thanks a lot for the kind reply and for kindly guiding me.

Sir, I tried a similar design but couldnt catch anything at all... I guess then the device will not work for me too - but anyways I cant even imagine affording one and have decided not to buy it... Yesterday, I caught a few flys using a fish-net and fed them to the frogs..

funny coincidence of your posting. our friend's daughter (a 7 yr old tom-boy) has 2 little beach frogs. whenever she wants to feed them she just goes outside her backyard & catches the tiniest grasshoppers in her hand! not even squeamish! & she's a pro at it!!

there are some good suggestions already, but as the old american saying goes like "flies to sheet" you will catch tons of them, albeit a smelly time at it!

seriously, it doesn't take much poop to attract them in droves! set up any type of receptacle, plate/cardboard mat/newspaper, etc. with a partial netting to close over them (like your fly net) then scoop them up!

sorry if this is a bit crude but it's mother nature at it's best!! good luck!

Don't give up. Move the trap to an area where there's not a lot of other competing lights. Also move the bulb closer to the opening of the funnel.
