So obviously this isn't fish related but, I drive a 2006 Chevy Cobalt right now, the car itself doesnt have realy any issues except that I need to replace the fuel filter soon, I've done all the oil changes and use synthetic blend oil in it, but it's bad luck. I dont know what it is about my car but I got it brand new in late 2005 and so far it has been hit 5 times with no one leaving a note or waiting or anything. Just a couple weeks ago it got hit while I was at work and of course the person scraped the entire left side of my car and left without a word. This is the first one I actually saw right after it happened so I finally filed a police report and I'll be getting it fixed soon.

I was looking on CL for a cheap car when I came across this http://annapolis.craigslist.org/cto/2009987049.html

I've wanted a muscle car for a long time but I have never even heard of a Maverick which I think is a little odd because I've been to a bunch of old car shows. Does anyone know anything about them? do they have rust issues like the unibody mustangs did? the car itself looks like its in great condition and I actually saw it yesterday before I even knew it was for sale because its my parents neighbor selling it.

wow... 1 year, 5 hits. Man, fate just doesn't like ur car. Wish i could help, but IDK what a maverick is either.

Might wanna try posting here http://mmb.maverick.to/index.php

Not a car you see much anymore, so I dunno much about them.

Yea I've always liked AMC AMX's because you dont see them too much so I'm surprised I never knew about these. Could be a good find or just something fun to drive every now and then.

And thanks for the link. I'll be posting on there soon

WOW, I remember those cars and I loved em...although can you say "gas mileage" yeah...not so good when it comes to that. My cousin had one and it got like 8m/g (ok exaggerated a little bit there) but still.

Oh it definitely wouldnt be my daily drive. I'm keeping the cobalt since its paid off and just going to be a beater plus at this point with 166k miles on it i dont care what happens to that car, and it still gets about 30 mpg.

The Ford Maverick is what ended up replacing the Ford Falcon. I've only seen one in my life. There's someone down the street from where I live that has that same year except it's green. Basically it's a smaller Mustang. That engine is the largest of the 3 that you could get in that model.

You younguns...

Mavericks were very common in the early 70's. The corporate twin was the Mercury Comet. They were a smart looking little car. They're (were) actually a pretty common starting point for lots of drag cars (think poor-man's Pinks starter from 20 years ago) because if you found one w/ a 302 in it, you could go racing for a while before you decided you needed a big block...

As I recall, the engine is quite buildable, but you will eventually (quickly?)deliver more horsepower than the transmission and/or rear end can handle, so be certain to do some research before you start in w/ the bolt-on horsepower.

well there go my hopes and dreams.... just talked to my dad and he was telling me that when the neighbor was trying to start it the other day he was having issues and from the sound of it, it wasn't too good of a rebuild job on the car. maybe I'll find something else, but now that I've seen what they look like, I like them. maybe something new for me to look out for

lol yea I know.... I've been into muscle cars since I was 10 though. I just really can't believe there was something like that I didnt know about. looks about the size of an AMX with a little of a smaller motor, but I'm still waiting to find my reasonably priced '67 GTO with the 400 in it.

It also turns out the "work" that needs to be done on the right rear quarter panel means its rusted out, and I have nowhere to work on a car like that yet...
