Setting up Breeder tank for unproven discus pair

Hey everyone,
I have a pair of discus that have been spawning about every 2 weeks. So far none of the eggs have hatched. I'm not sure exactly what's happening to them. I thought my pleco was eating the eggs before they hatched but I dont know.

Anyway, i am considering setting up a 40 gal breeder tank I have, just for the pair. It will most liokely be a bare bottom set up, maybe with a couple sponge filters or something similar.

My questions are:

What are the ideal water parameters to ensure the eggs hatch?
Ph, Hardness, and temperature.

Also, I am going to put some potted plants, and a breeding cone in the tank.

I guess I am just looking for suggestions right now.

Water parameters should be as follows:

Ph: Nominal. 5.8 to 6.8 is best, but you can hatch out in just about any Ph.

KH & GH: Typically less than 4 degrees.

TDS: under 100 ppm.

Temperature: 83 F

I'd leave the plants out.
