Schooling VS. Shoaling: what's the difference?

Shoal - A large school of fish or other marine animals.

School - A large group of aquatic animals, especially fish, swimming together; a shoal.

According to this site...

there is a difference. Also,

"A shoal can be defined as a social group produced by individual fish choosing to stay with their fellows. Schooling is a type of shoaling that is defined by the types of highly synchronised and polarised behaviour exhibited by shoaling fish, usually under threat from predators."
