hey guys who likes what outta these two and for what reasons?
Just trying to get an idea as i'm thinking of changing my substrate....

I like sand because all the debris in the tank stays on top and not in the substrate, making it easier to clean. You only have to vacuum the top and don't have to "dig" into it to keep it clean. I find my plants seem to like sand more also, as the roots tend to really spread out.

i agree sand is good. also some fish dig in it cool to watch. heres a pic of my tempory tank.

I wish I had changed to sand in the begining...now the work involved for a fully running tank is not something I want to tackle now. I think sand is better for cories and I pretty much always have them in my tanks.

i think it depends on the fish you want. I've never had any problems with gravel. I like both substrates alot though.

thank you guys for your input. I think i will change to sand!!

out of interest for plant growth what is a good depth for sand?

I'm sure its like any other substrate... I like having at leaste 1.5", preferably 2".
