rescaping my 10 gallon.

so even the small tetras (around an inch) might be a bad idea? would microrasboras be better or just skip the schooling fish? if the sparkling gouramis started acting different when i add the green neons i could move the neons to my shrimp tank i guess.

ok so i need plant suggestions, and help on how to scape this tank. i plan on changing the filter to an AC 20 on the lowest flow bc the sponge filters gonna go to my shrimp tank. i have crypts(middle back), aponogeton(beside the sponge filter), a jungle val(in the right corner), rotala(floating trying to make them grow bigger), chain sword(front middle), a banna plant(front right corner). i need something in the front left corner mostly. i want this to be a very heavily planted tank. lighting is 2 15 watt flourescent bulbs from walmart(the swirly looking kind). i plan on dosing excell probably(does that hurt crypts or vals?), or maybe DIY Co2.

sorry about the algae. im trying to use plants to out compete it.
sounds great!but i suggest maybe you are doing well later,if you put reasonably the reef and add some plants.
lighting is 2 15 watt flourescent bulbs ?are you sure that is your best scheme?

Day 1 of rescape

ok so i posted the thread a couple of days ago, but didnt really rescape any. i think ive got how i want it in my mind i wish i could draw it and post it on this thread..... anyways i plan on adding more river rocks and switching out for smaller ones today but here's a pic of how it looks now.

i think im just going to do rotala and pygmy chain sword in this tank. i want to go ahead and put the new filter on and put this filter in my shrimp tank, but i dont want the killifish stressed out from the flow.

ok so new plan and a pic. ill place the rocks in an upside down T and on the right of the upside down T will be Rotala macrandra Japan red and on the left will be rotala rotundifolia. up front will be a carpet of pygmy chain sword around the rocks, and in the between the rotalas. here's a pic to give you an idea of the setup.

the crypts, aponogeton, and regular chain sword are being traded for 20 RCS. where the sponge filter is will be Rotala macrandra Japan red, and where the crypts are will be rotala rotundifolia. then inbetween the rocks will be a carpet of pygmy chain sword. how does it sound?

how do i know if i have soft water? my ph is 7.5 or 7.6(i havent tested in a while). could i do regular root tabs from like petsmart and excell? im not going to have vals in this tank, and id rather not spend like 19 dollars on the macro stuff. also where do i get the last stuff and how much is that? im 15 so i dont have a bunch of money.

I think Memphis gets its water from the Mississippi River. It looks like the water company is in violation by not making their test results public.
