Raising Live Brine Shrimp?

I have, but I cheated.

I had a sea-monkey kit.

I don't know how they make that magic green powder you feed them, but powdered algae is simply no match for it.

I have failed to grow brine shrimp when trying out yeast, powdered algae, and powdered baby fish food.

I would love to grow these guys also.

From everything I've read it's more of a PITA than it's worth. What are you trying to feed? You would be amazed at the size fish that will eat bbs with relish. BBS is also MUCH better for fish (nutritionally) than adult bs.

I didn't want to be the first to say it, but I have researched it pretty thoroughly and decided that it was not worth my effort. Freeze-dried or frozen brine shrimp are not so expensive that I have to grow my own.

However, I am considering starting a culture of daphnia in some tubs on my back porch. Once you get a good green-water culture going, daphnia will apparently just keep on producing more of themselves without much effort.

Yeah, but what do you do when winter comes around? You can't leave them out on the deck.

I mainly want to to raise brine shrimp for the educational experience. I find these little creatures interesting. I also would like to feed my fish and sell some adult brine to some pet stores. For a little net full I pay $3 for live where I live. That is to $$. I want to raise my own to save some money and I can learn in the process. Let me know if you have a set up that works. Please.
