hey- what are the quietest air pumps for a bedroom setting? i'm looking for something that would work for a hydro sponge V filter. a pump around 3-5 psi or 100 liters/hour would probably be about right. i'm picky about silence in my room, especially when sleeping. thanks!

I have a whisper (the model I have is for up to 10 gallons) air pump and it is just that, a whisper. I don't know about the larger whispers as I don't own one but I would think that they should also be pretty quiet.

EDIT: I should also add that my filters (red sea deco art nano filter and penguin 150b) are louder than the whisper.

My Whisper is about as quiet an air pump as I've had, though it's still very audible.

Every sponge filter I've ever used has been way louder than the actual air pump. Is the Hydro Sponge V filter quiet? If so I want to get one!

or move the tank if any noise at all is a problem for you i myself love the sound of water and bubbles in my bedroom makes me fall asleep. even my b/f who is a light sleeper doesnt have a problem sleeping so i would think a whisper pump shouldnt keep you awake if it does just return it and try a different brand.

definitely Whisper brand! i've run the big dual output one before and had it sitting on a shelf of a gorilla rack with no towel or anything underneath and all i ever heard was the faintest vibration noise and that was only when my apartment was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

I have a Fusion 600 and 400, and I,m tellen ya there awesome! The 600 is a dual outlet and it is powering two hydrosponges perfectly! The 600 is SUPER qiuet! It has rubber feet and it barely vibrates at all. It is hard to tell if it is on! The 400 is a single outlet and is powering one hydrosponge as well. It is not quite as as quiet and vibration free as the 600, but good nonetheless. For the bedroom I would get the Fusion 600 and two hydrosponges. You can never have to much filtration, and the hydros are great!

the consensus is the whisper air pumps. ok, cool.

doc awkward, the sponge is quiet. i have the bigggest one, the hydro sponge V and all it is is a huge circular sponge wrapped around a cone that is attached to a heavy plastic base. no motor or anything to cause noise! the best part about them is using a powerhead or air pump. i have a powerhead running on my diy filter, so an air pump seems the best option.
