I've had a 4" high-fin butterfly (at least that's how they labeled him in the store!) pleco for about a year now in a 37 gallon community tank. Lately I've noticed that his tail or dorsil fin might get a tear in it, but heals within a day or two. More recently, his tail has become really shredded and hasn't healed completely yet (it's been a week). He's still eating fine, and is as active as usual--this one thinks swims around the tank like any other fish. Also, this morning I noticed a tear in one of his pectoral fins.
Could this be from other fish in the tank?
he's in there with a 4" gold pleco
2" clown pleco
3" pictus cat
10 tiger barbs
The plecos and cat do compete with eathother when fed, but I've never noticed anything too agressive. They seem to competely avoid eachother apart from meal times

The other possibility that crossed my mind was tail/fin rot
Would Pima and Mela fix work on that?

Water parameters:
temp: 78
ph: 6.9-7.0
ammonia: 0
nitrates: ?

I do weekly waterchanges of about 15%

Thanks for any advice you might give

WOW...a pleco that actually isnt to shy to swim around..........YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOOO LUCKY>

Does anyone know...is this normal behavior for a pleco? Does anyone else have a pleco that swims aroundthe tank freely at all hours? Let me know cause I gotta get one. I have an L200 and an L66.......Not overly shy...but still.

I've never seen the barbs touch any of the plecos. The barbs seem to hang out much higher in the tank. Also, they (barbs and plecos) have been living together for about a year now and I'm only seeing the tail/fin problems with the pleco now.
UPDATE: he seems to be better than last week. the tears aren't as large, and he still seems very happy and is eating as much as usual

I have a pleco, and hes gown a bit larger than my raphael catfish, whenever i feed them b4 i go to bed, the large pleco isnt shy at all, he rams the raphael catfish, eats first and then goes off to mind his own business like nothing happened at all, by the way, hes very teritorrial and agressive too.
