Hi everyone.
I am finally ready to start planting my tank, keep in mind the stealths are ste at 86 degrees f for discus.

I want to buy, Cabomba, and corkscrew val's. will these do ok in warm water?

What other plants would you reccommend?
Thanks!

I suspect that Cobomba Caroliniana and Vallisneria spiralis should be able to cope well enough, I have both (as siggy can attest) and they are doing very well with CO2 and enough light. I've had Cobomba all the way up to 81, with no ill effects.

Just don't dose Excel with vals in the tank.

here is an article about planted Discus tanks. there are compromises as many plants don't fare well in the warm water.
and there is usually a trade off.

I keep my tanks at 84 with discus and fnd plant selection can be limited.
anubias does ok, as does money wort and many crypt's.anacharis can but it gets nibbled on.

some dwarf swords as well as amazon sword seem to be tolerant..
I am running VHO and am experimenting with lights as the selection for planted tanks is limited.
but recently have found 10k daylight VHO as well as the triphosphor.

I am considering lowering the light and keeping ot to about 2wpg in the 75. with co2 injection.

I think I should also mention, or ask, I have a CF light fixture with 2 96 watt 6700 ultra daylight bulbs. Thsi setup looks super bright to me, but is less than 2 WPG. Is this going to me enough light for some of these plants?

Thanks.

what is the matter with using Excel with Valisneria? I haven't heard that but I have been doing it...perhaps that's why they haven't been successful in my tank. Any info or links?
