Planted Pico Project

wow i like it. i want to do a 5 gallon nano tank.

A five gallon would be sweet and possible easier...

My biggest problem with this pico is getting something to scale. I stink at aquascaping and this tank was suppose to help me work through that... Instead it's more frustrating than ever and my 120g seems to be easier to handle these days...LOL

Well it's not the creative result I was hoping for but this is what the Pico looks like today. I'm hoping to have an epiphany about what to do with the aquascape for this tank. The more I stare at it the happier I am it even looks the way it does...LOL

I love the way it looks as well. Sometimes simplicity is bliss. You've done great! :) Sending you good wishes and hoping that you find your creative epiphany.

The unveiling

Well I did a complete tear down of the tank and started from scratch.
-I put the background using a few drops of mineralized oil and a CC to rub it on getting the air bubbles out and it looks great.
-Remove the SMS inert substrate and replaced it with ADA aqualsoil type I
-Everything else hardware wise stayed the same.

I finally got a scape I'm happy with for my Pico. It took every piece of Anubias nana petite I own to make it work but I think when the Glosso finally fills in it will finally give it the finish look I've wanted for this tank.

Why did you invest the money and time into pressurized co2 for such a small tank. Why not go with Excel??? Sorry, I'm still new to all of this...

I agree completely, it is definitely overkill. The pressurized Co2 was actually for my 33L which is currently running as a low tech tank. I bought the paintball Co2 kit brand new and since I had the equipment laying around I decided to put it to use, wasn't even sure if it worked had it for over a year. Excel can get pretty expensive over time granted it doesn't justify pressurized Co2 but a 20oz paintball bottle has been running for over a year and the pressure hasn't budged...LOL

I may make it a filterless tank just because you can see how distracting the equipment is in such a small tank once everything has grown in and is established.

Here's a better pic that isn't so blurry

Wow, that's a nice bunch of petite! I love it's dark lush green with the lighter glosso, gonna be awesome when it carpets.
