I read in other posts about feeding ones fish peas. What are the reasons to do this, should I consider this even if I have live plants in my tank? What are the pros and cons of it? What should I do to prepare the peas? Should I get canned, frozen, or fresh peas?

What other vegetables might be good for the fish?

I read pea's help to reduce constipation caused by flakes and such, its also another way to make your fishes diet a little more varied
even if you have live plants, the fish dont actually eat them do they? well either way i dont see any harm in trying, the worse thing that can happen is the fish show no interest in the pea's and you'll need to remove it
i used canned pea's so they're already boiled i think, if you give them frozen pea's then chuck it in the microwave for a few seconds to soften it up
remove the pea skin and plop it in the tank, sometimes i squish the pea a little with my fingers so it makes it easier for the fish to nibble on, but causes abit more mess

you can also feed your fish zuchini, spinach and maybe cucumber

You might want to blanch these slightly to soften them up before feeding. :)

I take a frozen pea, big one, run it under the tap, remove the skin with by cracking with my thumbnail, drop it in the tank and watch my 2 dojos start sniffing the air.....it takes them a minute or 2 to locate it. By then its thawed :) Don't leave any uneaten peas in th water. My dojos get this treat twice a week. Its funny to watch them fart :thud: afterwards

I've tried various human foods in my tank and found that cucumber is the most appreciated. Peas were not that big of a hit in any of my tanks...
