I am loving my planted aquarium, but my parrot feather is sickly.

Please ignore now deceased koi angel.

Although the parrot feather has grown quickly to the top, the underside of the plant looks unsightly. I don't like this. All my other plants are thriving and wonderfully green. Please advize.

Yes, please more info. Myriophyllum under the right conditions grows like crazy.

high possibility it was grown emersed so putting under water can take time to transition.

I recently brought home a nice big wad of it from my mom's pond down in NO. She says she throws this stuff out weekly down there.

Most of it was in the emerged form. It has taken awhile to kick in under water. (looked just like your pic) A few stems have really taken off now and ready for a trim. The others are still gettin started.

I trimmed them back to about 6" before planting in the tank. I was interesting watching the transformation from emerged to submerged.

Could you say something about your tank, such as photoperiod, dosing, CO2, if any, substrate, and so forth?
. 90 gallons
2. Water parameters just checked : GH 8 dH, KH 6 dH, pH 8, temp 80 degrees, NO2 is a hair over 0 mg/l, NH3 0, CO2 about 1.8 mg/l.
3. Fresh water
4. The tank is well established @ 8 months.
5. loach, pictus catfish, pleco, 8 tetras, dwarf gurami, 8 snails, 2 small angels.
All fish are medium except for small angels.
6. 80 degree temp ( I live in Florida) with about 12-14 hours of artificial light. There is some, but not much natural light.
7. 90% live plants with driftwood piece. Gravel is pebble with florite plant gravel around live plants. {What can I say? I originally did'nt think I'd do natural plants, but I'm now facinated by them.
8. 405 Fluval filter (lovely system)
9. 'Corallife' Lighting (T5: blue bulb and white bulb).
12. I gravel vac 30% every other week.
13. I feed daily, but not much. Tetracolor flakes mainly, Spectrum cichlid food at times. I give the plants food every tank change.

Below is a picture of the whole thing.
