Hi all

I have territory issues with my Oscar and my Parrot (I don't agree with them but also don't agree that my friend was going to "dispose" of it because he didn't want his tank anymore, so i adopted him).
Anyway they keep squaring up to each other and kind of locking lips but obviously the Parrot can't. My Oscar is about 6" and the Parrot 4" but my Oscar is kind of a softy really. The Parrot is a bully.
My question is, will the Parrot hurt my Oscar as i understand they have quite hard beaks. And will they ever settle this if they can't have a proper fight?
They're in a 120g tank with a Green Severum tankmate. He gets along fine with them both.
Any opinions or experiences would be appreciated.

How much tank furniture do you have? Is there a way for either fish to be out of direct sight of the other?

Personally, if I didn't have any other options, I would add some Zebra Danios as dither fish. They are fast enough to stay out of the way and they will take some of the attention away from the other tank mates. They will probably always scrap from time to time.

Are you sure you're not confusing the "Hard beak" part with Marine parrot fish? If anything, the deformed parrot cichlids usually have difficulties with their mouth.

As for your situation the tank is large enough, so I agree with carpediem that the set-up may be able to ease the situation. Over time the oscar will get the dithers but that's nature.
