OddBall freshwater fish

How much do they(wolf fish) usual cost. on Aquabid they were pretty high if you add shipping My lfs does not usual carry much odd fish

take it from me, I've been keeping wolffish for years.

you could easily keep a wolf fish in a 75. you could even try and go for a couple of red fin wolf fish-(Erythrinus erythrinus.)--[they are smaller and in my experience aren't quite as aggressive, and get along better.]

But if you desire a slightly less attractive and bigger wolf, go with hopilas malabaricus. A 75 would suit it nicely, and dont worry about your fingers, they dont tend to bother the owner at all.

But just know, he WILL be in that tank by him/herself.

Common wolf fish are usually about $15 for 3-4" ones around here when they're available.

A 75g would be fine for a Hoplias malabaricus (common wolf fish). However, mine have breached the surface of the water to lunge at my hands when I've had the lid off, and attack anything (ornaments, nets, tongs, food, not food...) that enters the water before they even take note of what it is they're biting. With the teeth on them, it would only take one good bite to do some serious damage to your hand. All that being said, I absolutely love them. :)

well just do what I do: use a sliding tank divider when you change around the ornaments or siphon the gravel.

My wolfs usually never try to attack me, although I used to have a large female that seemed to think it fit to jump out of my tank and lay on the ground for god knows how long. The tough little punk was still alive and well after I put it back in the tank. That female also tried to lunge through the glass of the tank to try to kill all the fish in the tank next to it, and it would always lunge at me when I walked close to the tank at night.

But yes, be careful, they can back a horrible bite. I once left the smaller end of the siphon in the tank, and it literally bit it in half. I mean it may not sound like much...but if you think about it it is.

Hey I want a fish that will eat some fry not eat me. I thought when my flowerhorns bite it was bad enough.

Well alrighty then, if you can't handle getting bit by a flowerhorn then I strongly suggest you don't get a wolf.

Just get a manguanese-jaguar cichlid.
Or get an arowana.
Or just give them away. You dont HAVE to kill them, you know.
