I bought a glass diffuser on ebay. I connected it to my diy co2 set up but not getting bubbles. Ive blown into the line and still nothing. I even hooked it up to my air pump and nothing. Ive blown into the thing it self and it feels like its blocked. Looks like airs not gettin through the white part on the top. What am I doin wrong?

if you aren't getting bubbles with an air pump something is wrong with the diffuser, it's not something you did. The pores maybe be clogged or too small for your diy co2 pressure, again if nothing with an air pump something is wrong. How long did you leave it hooked up to the air pump?? If you bought it used you can try soaking it in a solution of bleach and water to break up the old gunk that was in it, or gunk that the diy co2 causes.

Try leaving it hooked up to the air pump for a few hrs and see if you get anything. Be careful though I've heard of ppl cracking the cheap diffusers by using too much pressure.

I didnt leave it on the pump long. Maybe thats it. Im try to leave it longer. Its a brand new piece from an asian distributor. BOYU is the brand name. Ima try again. Water got in it somehow so I guess it isnt air tight. Thanx.

DOH!

And I was just getting ready to say it could depend on the type of diffuser. I purchased a group of diffusers and one of them is a nano. Hooked it up to my DIY CO2...nothing. Air pump on a 10g tank...nothing. Air pump on a 55g tank...nothing. Air compressor running at about 10psi...it worked. Blew it out for a few seconds and back on the DIY CO2. Again nothing.

Turns out that the nano (or at least the type I have) takes more pressure to push through the disc. My DIY CO2 bottle swelled up a ton. I would fathom a guess that if I didn't check on it, it may have blown up. That would have been a mess.

Ok dude... the white disk is ceramic, and has fine pores... You can pump air through it. Only pressurized CO2 is supposed to pass through it. PRESSURIZED!

An air pump is not pressurized...

DIY CO2 is not anywhere in the realm of being enough pressure for a ceramic diffuser... Sorry to tell you,... wrong buy dude! Best bet is to put it up for sale in the classifieds, and get a powerhead...

BTW a sealed 2 liter bottle with label will withstand 1800 PSI, seriously. If you blow one up with DIY yeast mix, something is really screwy with your mix!

To quote myself from a different Thread...

Disagree completely. Provided the system is leak free and done properly, there is ample pressure to run a glass diffuser.

Pic below shows my tank (taken about 12 months ago, when I first started getting into planted). That diffuser is running off a DIY system and there are bubbles for Africa, as you can see...

I do agree, though, that an airpump is not enought to drive one of these things. And yes, your bottles will withstand a crap-load of pressure...you just gotta let the pressure build and make sure there are no leaks in your system.

OK, agree to disagree slightly, as you had great luck getting all those bubbles from DIY, but believable !

Im out!

My diffuser was different than yours ghengis. It had a lil spiral under the disk. Maybe thats y it didnt work? IDK

I was going to say that diy co2 will work with ceramic disks but someone beat me too it. Sucks that you dropped it, spiral thing underneath shouldn't of mattered. better luck next time
