I just had to share this with everyone.
I added 5 green cory cats to my 55g planted community tank yesterday. And today, one was "missing". So, like anyone would do, I got real close to the glass and started searching every nook and cranny for the missing cat. I found him, but not until after finding a tiny 3/16" (5mm) cherry barb swimming around on top of a small piece of shale.
I watched it for a minute or two and went back to looking for the missing cory. And after a few minutes I found him hiding under the edge of my driftwood. Satisfied that all was well with the cory cats, I went back to watching the fry.
My son walked by and asked why I was staring at the tank. I pointed out the little guy to him and he began watching too. Then my son said "Look! What's that?". Well, I was blown away, to say the least, when I realized that the object he was pointing to was an 1/8" (3mm) long fry. I'm not 100% sure, due to the size and the fact that it is still mainly transparent, but from the way it acts, I believe this one to be an otto
!
I guess I am going to have to really look hard to see if there are others in there swimming around. But for now, here is a short video (not great quality) that I took of the new additions a short time ago. If you look closely, you can see the "possible" otto move across in front of the rock near the bottom of the screen. It really just appears as an oblong dot darting by, but that's him.
