I was at a Chinese Supermarket in New York a few months back and I saw that they had african mudskippers for sale as food! These were alive and they were selling them for $18.00 a lb which I figure would be at least 10-15 fish. Now I was just wondering if they will be able to survive in captivity, or would they have been too stressed by being kept in a stryofoam box with little water and sold as food? I hope they get another shipment and I can save some before they become food.

nice thing about chinese market is that you can pick the ones you want, even if they seem to be unwilling. you just have to be forceful.
and if they do die on you, they are very tasty

i don't think so, i have brought live shrimp, clams, and carps in my state (CA) not sure about mud skippers. tell them you want them alive anyways and if they question just say it's fresher to have them alive.
is this a rescue attempt? If so, I'd also consider adopting one, I've always wanted a skipper myself 
They don't need much water as they spend 90 percent of the time on land. They will probably be stressed because they are cold too, they like the temp about 80 degrees. Good luck! I love my skippers. They are so personable.
