Moss wall/DIY plans

I'm thinking of putting one in my planned tropical 10G to let the shrimp and tetras hide in it. At my LFS a bag full of Java Moss the size of a medium Zip-Loc bag is about $4.99.

How long can it be before I need to trim it? I heard if you let it grow, the inside strands die from lack of light, and your moss wall falls apart. I also heard that if you slant the wall a little bit, your moss grows faster because of more light hitting the mesh.

I dont really think the moss thats inside the mesh will rot and fall apart since java moss is pretty versatile, can be without light for a while and still survive. Though I would still trim it since the more you trim the bushier it will become. Also not sure if the link you provide stated it but, its best to mince the moss into smaller pieces, that way when it grows it will grow fuller right away since there will be more strands producing.
I am growing mine, about a 5x10 section in a 29g, ive clipped it to the top of the tank so it gets the most amount of light, so far so good.

I have had my moss walls for some time now, i don't have them slanted and they are growing like mad. I haven't noticed any die-off either. I trim it so its about 2-3" long

I let my Taiwan moss wall grow for a long time without trimming. It looks nice from the front, but the back is turning brown. I wouldn't be surprised if it fell apart if I let it continue growing.
