Mollie Gave Birth To 1 Baby 3 Hrs Ago...

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL THE ADVICE!!!!

I left her in the breeding tank - a Marine's which in my opinion put the Lee's to shame, for almost 30 hrs after she gave birth - she never did again. Not sure if she ate the others or if there were any others. She does look a little smaller now, but still pregnant looking.

Little one is doing fine - swimming - he's in the breeding tank alone - wondering if next time if I should get some Java moss for the bottom of the breeding tank.

We did have platinum Lyretail that gave birth a number of weeks ago, after she had a bunch prematurely - 3 did live for a bit - I had her in the "LEE'S" tank that hangs off the side with the "V" partition to put in - the space was too large & the babies were easily able to get back up to mommy who must have ate them.

I kept thinking she must have had more to give birth too - as it looked like a little red fin sticking out of her - that stayed that way for a couple of weeks! Then one day she seemed to get really big fast - in a matter of 10 mins she went from swimming around to being dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were very shocked - she must have been blocked by this (baby?), she was pooping ok all that time - but I'm guessing she had more to give birth to that were mature this time & when it came time there wasn't the room needed for the babies to come out!

The Marine(a) floating breeding trap the double size one - not the single one that I`ve seen in Wal-Mart - is 100% better than the Lee`s - the "v" is too wide; you have to weigh down the bottom partition so babies don't go into the main tank, the side slots are wider.

ALSO ANOTHER MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE LEES - other fish get trapped between the trap & the tank - I used mine today & it almost killed my black lyretail Mollie!!! - My suggestion don't buy this breeder!

This Marine one the baby tried to get up through the divider between him & mommy - he couldn't & when I cleaned it today he tried to get out the side - he couldn't!!! I was very pleased to see that he was so much safer in this one!! -

Anyhow - just wanted to express on my opinion on these important items!

Thank you again for all the advice - as I've got the black lyretail - whom I'm hoping is finally pregnant - she was with my (now dead) orange sailfin for 5 weeks - didn't get pregnant - she's now been with a marble male for a week - hope they work together this time! & I just notice my albino plattie is looking very pregnant - which she didn't yesterday??
