hey guys, quick question, I was thinking about doing a shipwreck in my tank, and was wondering if anyone here has ever done one before (like made it yourself)? I want it too be a genuine "wreck" though, not a cheap plastic or ceramic shipwreck. my tank is 36"x17", with agra-alive indo-pacific black sand. (its actually a saltwater tank, but figured id get a bigger audience in here, I can work out the potential saltwater-freshwater problems later). Anyways, tried ebay, and found nothing suitable. Im assuming I'll have to make it myself from a kit, and use special non-toxic fishtank type glue, then smash it and place it in,but other than that Im just wondering if anyone has any suggestions/advice, or knows where I can get one? thanks

I would be very leary of just buying something and placing it in the tank. You can't be sure about the safety of the glue, paint, etc. If you can do it yourself, that is the only way I would do it

yeah, dont stick stick models in your tank, i build some car models and the super glue i use dosnt look so safe in water haha. But theres sites that has some nice shipwrecks. Just search google.

You could do a bio assay. Put the ship in a small tank with cycled filter and a small fish. If the fish is ok after a week or two, then the decoration is safe for your display tank. Use a white cloud minnow and you won't need a heater. Use a sweater box and you don't even need a tank.

Its a saltwater tank..your not going to find any glues that'll keep it together long enuff to worry about anyhow. Maybe some of the underwater epoxies would hold..but I still wouldn't do it.

I am a model builder too and the "mold-release" agents they use on the plastic are toxic. I would buy something that is aquarium safe and not a plastic model.

Well you can always go to Dr. Foster and Smith and order these, much safer.
