MiracleGro Spaghum Peat Moss as substrate?

I bought a bag of MiracleGro Spaghum Peat Moss to use as thin layer under sand substrate ..

But I read on the bag that there is fertilizer ..

Is this safe for aquarium?
Would cycling for a few months clear the tank of ammonia, or is this forever unsafe for fish?

the problem is most use ferts that are not safe in the aquarium. i wouldnt use it and look for some cheap stuff.

Potassium nitrate, and Ammonium phosphate, monobasic

I am no chemist, but I would expect those to raise my ammonia levels and nitrate levels, and they are the two main additives. I think I would stay away from that. You can put Miracle Grow Organic growth in an aquarium if you are looking for a cheap substrate for a planted tank. Don't think I would do that though unless you intend on planting it heavily.

KNO3 is perfectly fine although I expect it would be in more abundance than needed. I am currently trying Miracle Gro's Organic Potting mix...supposedly it is fish/invert safe but I have yet to add anything but plants.

Does Miracle Grow Organic growth cause rise in ammonia and nitrites too?
I intend decently heavy planting ..

No idea, haven't tested anything to be quite honest. It's only 1% nitrogen by weight for the little added fertilizer is has (0.010-0.05-0.05) although one could theorize that anything in the soil that further breaks down would add to that...but supposedly it is already compacted enough...

You should have bought the USA peat moss. Nothing added to it.
The Canadian Peat moss has 0.10-0.05-0.10 consisting of
Ingredients from MSDS/Label

Urea
Ammonium phosphate, monobasic
Potassium nitrate

-I- wouldn't worry about it under a suitable substrate.
