Loctite

"Not for use on potable water systems" - not safe for water for human consumption, probably not safe for the fish - It also says prolonged or repeated exposure could cause nervous system problems

Notice this?

"This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm."

Aside from not using it in your tank - maybe get rid of the stuff for your own safety. There are plenty of non-carcinogenic glues that work well - even for industrial use.

Well, I hate to contradict, but Carcinigen is thrown around pretty loosly, not to mention California,( I like Cali. but there are alot of things that say california says that, that no one else does.)
But I deffinately am not using it.

Yeah. 95% of adhesives are not generally safe for aquarium use, because they are nasty if eaten. I've even seen marine epoxy that stated "not for aquarium use" on the package.

Well the Silicone did what I thought it would, it doesn't bond to the plastic. Silicone is generaly glass to glass. I think i'm going to clean the silicone off the joints, then scar up the surfaces with sandpaper, and or a razer knife, then try the silicone again.

Hmm, make sure the plastic is clean... of course it depends on what kind of plastic probably, I've bonded many plastic things with silicone. I've got a whole box of silicone from when I worked for the cable company (we would use it to seal up around were cable intered into the house) and as long as the plastic is clean and completely dry, it works fine.

FWIW I'm sure its a lot harder for a product to be approved for potable water systems than aquariums.

as it says you can't use it with drinking systems, I'm guessing you can't use it in aquaria

Is "Loctite Stik'n Seal" Aquarium safe? It's A Waterproof Adhesive that bonds brick, wood, glass, rubber, Metal, plastic, fiberglass, leather.

I got THIS from the information on Loctite & it referes to "leaching" & human use ...

General Question

What is the history of adhesives?
Are your adhesives safe on dentures or dishes that I can eat or drink from?

No, our products are not FDA approved. Chemicals could leach out when the adhesive is wet or warmed.

So I wouldn't use it on anything like an aquarium b/c it MIGHt leach inmuch the same way.

SEEMS LIKE IT WOULD BE TAKING TOO MUCH OF A CHANCE TO ME.

Yeah, your right about the portable water thing for sure.

And also, yeah, i'm going to completely clean it off, then scratch up it's surface. It's a very "Slick" kind of plastic, so perhaps thats why.

OT:I work low voltage.(Phones, Cables, Security). Don't know why you care, but... anyway.
