I've joined the dark side. Soon to be manager of the Petland Lancaster fish dep.

It's hard to believe they think "dumping" the fish is best. What about the difference in the water temperature. If I had to guess, I'd say they are more concerned with the time spent. Dumping in fish means you have more time to do something else (Just my opinion).

Who knows? After working there a while and getting to know about suppliers etc. you can eventually open your own quality LFS.

Can't wait for pics!

it's called plop and drop method..and believe it or not is employed by quite a few people.

personally it's the diff in ph that you need to be most concerned with..if the pH coming from the source is a lot different than your local pH I would suggest drip acclimation.. a local shop here does this in the back..when their new fish come in..they have several tanks in back set up for this they also keep the fish in qt for a week or so.

I say do what you are comfortable with.

btw.. Good luck and congrats.
let me know if you ever need any assistance from me.
;)

He (and they) Say too take the fish out of the box, dumb them in a net over a trash can so all the water comes out and immediately put them in the tank. This is apparently less stressful and the "proper" way then floating the bags and acclimating them over an hour.

:omg: :jaw: :eek3:

Thank you. I'll test the water when i get the shipment in tomorrow. see wht the ph difference is. also whats the best way to acclimate shrimp. I set up a 10g invert tank at work. Its on its own separate system. I have 30 cherry's coming in, i figure a drip method is the best for them.

You are doing this alone? I admire your dedication. I wish you the best of luck.

Where are the Cherry Shrimp coming from? My LFS never has them, and another here in Chicago rarely does.

lol ohhhh a lfs that has someone who cares for fish in my area ish...only if i could drive there taking 1 hour is it worth it is the question...
