Infusoria Cultures

Is there a faster way to culture infusoria?

Or does it always take 7 days?

When the water turns cloudy, is that show when its ready for the fry?

Also how badly does it smell? (its winter here and I cant keep the jars outside)

It doesn't smell at all. It does typically take about a week, that is why you start a culture each day for a few days in a row.
You can tell when its ready if you hold a flashlight up to it (or it up to a light) and see microorganisms swimming around.

i throw together greenwater culture in just a day or two by using tank water from my planted tank (or any tank with an algae bloom or bacteria bloom), 2 liter bottle filled halfway up with some dead veggies in the bottom. I nuke it if its plant clippings, so they don't grow anymore. Stick it in the window sill where it gets a good portion of sunlight and viola. That's the method I use when I don't have any infusoria handy.

How come this method only takes "a day or two"?

I understand the recipe but have more than a few questions.

1 How long will one culture last.
2 It seems quite murky with froth on the top what part of the. culture show i feed? Or do I just shake it up and pour.
3 how much do I pour
4 Do I turn off the filter when feeding.
5 I have a 2ltr sprite bottle do I fill it to the top when making the culture?

I know they're quite newbie esq questions but I have never used infusoria before when feeing...

I use a dropper or turkey baster to feed.I pour off everything but the gross veggie slime into a secondary container to feed. I only use it for a day or so. I don't turn off my filters, but I use all sponge filtration.

In a 2ltr bottle how much water should I add?

Can I ask what the specific size of your jars are so I can buy some asap
