I finally found some of these guys at the LFS but they are pretty small - less than 1 inch. What kind of environment do I have to setup to raise only shrimps in the tank? I assume a 10g with sponge filter would be sufficient and I would probably put some java moss and java fern with some lighting. Is there anything else I should be aware? I'm thinking around 10-12 of them.

Thanks. :)

Same as most other non-filter feeding shrimp. If you want them to grow freakishly fast, feed them algae tabs everyday to every other day. They grow into monsters quick if fed properly.

Basically what I want to do is to raise them separately initially. They are too small so I want to raise them to near 2 inches then put them into community tanks. While at it, may be I can try breeding them too... :)

So 10g with two sponge filters would be ok? I have no idea what kind of bioload shrimps produce. I vaguely remember their loads are actually significantly less than fishes of equivalent size so if that is the case, 10g might be ok for 10 of them.
