it appears to me that the 3 snails i put into the JD tank were eaten, so i took the adult snail out of that tank and put it back into my mbuna tank. however, i think that my mbuna have been eating all the new hatches because i have dug in their gravel and found only one or two more snails. so i was wondering how long before the adult snail lays eggs again? and how long before the juvi snails are big enough to lay eggs?

It took about two weeks after I initially got plants before I started noticing pond snails, then about another week before I started noticing eggs everywhere.

So about 3 weeks then I had many sets of eggs on various plants.

Didn't take long after for there to be too many snails that I got fed up and try to dispose of them.

alright. cool. i see like 1 million tiny white specks on my glass. are these eggs? or something else?

Those could be eggs. Snails proliferate quickly when the food supply is abundant but this does not mean you should overfeed.

i'm curious how my snails that hide under the gravel get food. like the snails that did hatch and already have a shell hide under my gravel. how are they able to survive?

I'm not really sure, most of mine did live in the gravel though.

They must eat something there, algae maybe? They would come out every now and then and I noticed they liked to put the eggs on the underside of leaves close to the substrate.

As far as white spots on the glass, are they moving?

If they're moving and close to the substrate it could be copepods, like cyclops.
The snails aren't really too small, and you can pretty easily tell its a snail.

the white spots are moving, but they are high up and away from the substrate.
