How many piranhas can i keep in a 35 gallon?

Hi Rutter,

Is this only a grow-out tank or a permanent housing basis? If you want the classic Pygocentrus nattereri, please bear in mind your 35g will work only as a rearing tank and nothing more. Pygos are sociable by nature.

Check this link out. Consider yourself lucky if you manage to find the species that grow no more than 6 inches which unfortunately are very rare to me.

alrighty thanks ill take a look at your link but i was thinking permanent but i make shur to do research be4 buying anything

You're showing responsibility here unlike most people who would buy fish on impulse. Unfortunately, there is not a single piranha except ones often unavailable with size no more than six inches that will fit in your tank permanently otherwise it could serve as a good quarantine or rearing purpose if you do plan to upgrade your tank to as big as 180g.
 
id look into somthing else. most freshwater predators dont come small, but i can name quite a few saltwater predators that would to fine in a 35, like a dwarf lionfish. just a thought
 
Piranhas are out of the question but you may be able to house a school of Exodons instead....though a 35g may even be a bit small for these fish, as well.
